Today we speak about the less used forms of the past in Italian language.
We have TRAPASSATO PROSSIMO. It is used to underline the temporal line of facts in the past. Its function is to describe an event which happened in a distant past.
Es. Questa spiegazione ha chiarito tutto quello che prima non avevo capito.
Es. Alle medie avevo studiato la seconda guerra mondiale.
It is formed by imperfetto of the auxiliary verbs essere and avere + past participle.
